Keanu Reeves Wouldn’t Be the “John Wick-Keanu Reeves” in Matrix 4
Keanu Reeves has returned to the production set of Matrix 4, the operations of which have resumed after a lengthy pandemic break. Fans are just speculating about the fourth installment and despite certain interviews from the cast (like the one from Jessica Henwick), much still isn’t out about the tentpole.
However, a recently leaked set photo has set social media ablaze as it offers a very interesting plot point for speculation.
While most often than not, there aren’t many things to consider when we talk about celebrity set photos, this time around, people.com has unveiled some photos of Keanu Reeves from the sets of Matrix 4, which gives us a major clue about how he is going to look in the fourth Matrix film. And if you were wondering that the actor looks like John Wick in almost every other film he does, fear not, because he will look exactly how he looked in the last Matrix film (The Matrix Revolutions).
If you have seen the photo, you would know that Keanu Reeves’ Neo had the same short hair (buzzcut) in the final scene of the third film.
It’s fascinating to know because many YouTubers like Screenrant had pointed out that Keanu Reeves had the same John Wick hair when he showed for the shoot earlier this year. Screenrant also points out that at that time, Reeves had plans to shoot John Wick 4 and Matrix 4 simultaneously, and at one point, both the films were also slotted the same release date, but that had changed pretty quickly.
The sudden change in hairstyle is highly mysterious and a hype-worthy alteration done by Reeves and Lana Wachowski. The reason behind an abrupt change hasn’t been revealed, and it has been speculated that Lana Wachowski plans to introduce Keanu Reeves from the point where he had left Neo in the last film-“emerging from the pod.”
It’s a quite interesting development; however, its ramifications on Matrix 4 or John Wick 4 or 5 is something that we cannot yet ascertain. Well, it was the best move to cut his hair and wear a wig in John Wick rather than leaving the hair as it is and using CGI for Matrix. It looks like Lana Wachowski pays attention to what other franchises are doing and has learned massively from DC and Henry Cavill’s mustache incident.
John Wick 4 will arrive after Matrix 4, i.e., on May 27th, 2022. Matrix will be released around Christmas time next year.
The 5th installment in the John Wick franchise will also arrive a year after the 4th film as the production operation for both the films will occur simultaneously.
John Wick is probably Keanu Reeves’ best creative work after Matrix and is also an apogee when we talk about best action films made in the last decade. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be reprising their respective roles in the fourth installment. As of now, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson, and Daniel Bernhardt have been confirmed to have a supporting role. Apart from them, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, and Jessica Henwick also have a part to play in the upcoming science-fiction epic.
